The 1.2 TSI 63 kW engines in particular often suffered from failures of the timing system. There was a risk of chain skip during cold starts with insufficient chain tension. That resulted in unsynchronised movement of valves and pistons which lead to engine damage. The timing chain kit RS0106 from ET Engineteam resolves this problem.

Problems usually occur after 40-60 thousands kms. If you want to be on the safe side, we recommend changing the timing components after 40 thousands kms.
